Johannesburg is the provincial capital and largest city of the Gauteng province, which is the wealthiest province in South Africa. Often called the “City of Gold”, Johannesburg sits on the edge of the world’s largest known gold deposit. Within the city limits are attractions such as the Johannesburg Zoo, Emmarentia Dam and Zoo Lake, among others.
