Eastern Cape at a glance
The Eastern Cape province features all three of the country’s biodiversity regions, which is further enhanced by its 820km of untamed and majestic coastline, which is noted for the world-famous Garden Route.
The province boasts a variety of plant and animal species, including the Big Five, abundant birdlife and rich marine life (around 27 species of whales and dolphins).
The province is also steeped in history as it is the birthplace of Nelson Mandela and a number of other great political activists.
