Leadhome celebrates 5th anniversary as a successful year comes to an end

26 November 2020 | Marcel du Toit

The festive celebrations have extra meaning for Leadhome this year, as we recently celebrated our 5th anniversary. From humble beginnings, we’ve built a company that is undoubtedly transforming the property industry landscape in South Africa. Despite the global challenges the world has faced in 2020, this year has been a rewarding and successful one for Leadhome. At the beginning of 2020, no one could have imagined that so many of us would be conducting work meetings from the confines of our living room, purposely distancing from other people and wearing masks every time we leave the house!

And yet, this scenario quickly  became a way of life for people all around the world as we all had to quickly adjust to the new reality that Covid-19 imposed on all of us. Leadhome embraced this new reality, as we were able to swiftly and seamlessly shift from an office-based working model to a work-from-home model.

The pandemic hasn’t only changed the way in which we work, but has also had a major impact on trends in the property market. According to Leadhome’s data,  people’s priorities are changing, as there’s a growing exodus away from cities due to working from home becoming a permanent fixture. Many buyers are also looking at properties that they previously may not have been able to afford, with a visible shift in the number of enquiries on properties above R1.5million.

We also expect numerous other property trends in 2021 include increased immigration,  which could potentially create an over-supply of housing stock in certain sectors, while fibre internet and increased security are also major factors in the property decisions that people will make.

Buyers will also attempt to obtain the highest bond amount possible from banks while interest rates are low, with fixed rates set to accelerate in 2021. At the same time, there are going to be far more distressed sellers entering the market as relief measures wind down. For further insight on these trends, please click here.

As many of you depart for our well-earned holidays, Leadhome would like to wish you a safe and joyous festive season. After a tough year, we all deserve a relaxing time surrounded by family and friends and we should all take a moment to appreciate those closest and dearest to us.

We would like to thank you for your continued loyalty and support – we will continue to honour your patronage by providing  a leading service that is backed by technology, adaptability and a  hands-on approach.
